Project Title:   Digital Transformation and the Role of UX

Introduction

The purposes of this form are to give you information that may affect your decision whether to say YES or NO to participation in this research, and to record the consent of those who say YES.

Researchers

Holly Thomson, Ph.D. Candidate at Regent University; holltho@mail.regent.edu

Description of Research Study

Much has been studied about Digital Transformation but little research exists about UX professionals and their role in shaping the digital world in which we live.

If you decide to participate, then you will join a study involving the research of adult UX professionals with a range of experience - from one to many years in practice - across a variety of disciplines. If you say YES, then your participation will consist of a survey (approximately ten minutes to complete) and you may be selected for an in-depth Zoom interview lasting approximately 60 minutes. The researcher may have follow up questions, with your permission. About 20 participants will participate in the in-depth interviews.

Risks and Benefits

RISKS: While there are no foreseen physical risks for taking part in this study, if you decide to participate in this study, then you may face a risk of feeling uncomfortable through self- examination of your behavior and motivation.

BENEFITS: The main benefit to you for participating in this study is that you will be helping others understand who UX professionals are and how they create the experiences that shape our digital lives at work and at home. Additionally, you will help define the role of UX within the broader construct of digital transformation.

Costs and Payments

The researcher wants your decision to participate in this study to be absolutely voluntary, but understands that there is a value to your time beyond the initial short survey. For those that are selected to participate in the in-depth 60+ minute Zoom interview, you will be entered into a drawing at the end of the study for a new pair of AirPods Pro (2nd generation) valued at $249 USD.

Confidentiality

All information obtained about you in this study is strictly confidential. The results of this study may be used in reports, presentations and publications, but the researcher will not identify you except by a pseudonym of your choice. The researcher may reference the types of industries, but will not cite the name of the company or project to protect your anonymity and the integrity of this research. You can always contact researcher, if it is your company and you would like to have your company name cited.

Withdrawal Privilege

It is OK for you to say NO. Even if you say YES now, you are free to say NO later, and walk away or withdraw from the study -- at any time.

Compensation for Illness and Injury

If you say YES, then your consent in this document does not waive any of your legal rights. However, in the event of harm arising from this study, neither Regent University nor the researchers are able to give you any money, insurance coverage, free medical care, or any other compensation for such injury. In the event that you suffer injury as a result of participation in this research project, you may contact Holly Thomson at holltho@mail.regent.edu or Dr. William Brown, current HSRC chair at willbro@mail.regent.edu at Regent University, who will be glad to review the matter with you.

Voluntary Consent

By entering your name and email address, checking the required box that you have read this informed consent and submitting, you are signing this form and saying several things. You are saying that you have read this form, that you are satisfied that you understand this form, the research study, and its risks and benefits. You have contacted the researcher about any questions you may have had about the research and feel good about the answers provided. If you have any questions later on, then the researchers should be able to answer them:
